Just Moved to Pretoria, South Africa from Canada. Looking for a Safe Area to Live.?

My boyfriend and I just moved to Pretoria and will be staying for one year. We are looking for a place to live and are wondering which areas are safest? We looked at a duplex in La Montagne that we liked - is this area relatively safe or should we look elsewhere? We are also considering Waterkloof, Lynnwood and Faerie Glen. We would prefer to stay to the East of the N1 as it will be quicker for my boyfriend to get to work from there.
