Insects camouflaged/vibrant to ward off attack.. what does it mean 'nature' did this?

it means that over time these animals would develop small genetic mutations or reproduce and create genetic combinations. These variants within species (such as erflies that had more camouflage and those that would have less) would cause some animals to survive and others would die. (say a cat saw the tree in witch both erflies were perched. The cat would see the erfly with less camouflage first and eat it. The more camouflaged erfly would live and reproduce spreading his genes until over many generations as that scenario repeated itself all of the species would have more camouflage.)
